  • Iosco County Medical Care Facility, Tawas City

        The Iosco County Medical Care Facility is an on-going project that

        involves planting and maintaining wheel-chair height flower boxes

        and other areas surrounding the county facility.

  • Iosco Community Gardens, East Tawas

        The Iosco Community Gardens is a project that involves

        helping local community members start, maintain and grow

        their own vegetables.

  • Native Gardens, U.S. Forest Service Rangers Station, Oscoda

          Volunteers are needed to design and set up the garden.  MSU Extension will be glad

         to help those involved.

  • Heritage Gardens at Iosco, Iosco County Fairgrounds, Hale

         Volunteers needed to help design and install heritage garden.

        Contact:  Jean Thomas

        Next Meeting:  Planting Date--TBD (late May/early June)

        Plants are needed to provide for 1850-1950 Heirloom theme.  Plants requested

        include:        Black Eyed Susan (2 requested)

                            Purple Coneflower (2 requested)

                            1- 18-24" Tall Perennial (i.e. Lupine, Rhubarb, Zinnia, Horseradish)

                            1- Rose of Sharon or Rosa Rugosa

                                

  • Butterfly Garden, Tawas Point State Park, East Tawas

        Opportunity to further develop existing garden near the Tawas Point Lighthouse.

        Other opportunities exist to develop other Lighthouse gardens.

  • Corsair Ski Trail Warming Hut, Huron National Forest

        Great opportunity to design and plant native & deer resistant landscaping.

  • Northeast Michigan Regional Farm Market in East Tawas (2013)

        Opening Date:     May 18, 2013

        Saturdays, 8:00 --12 noon.

        Volunteers needed to answer garden-related questions.
